Pick up Point – Belgadia Palace, Baripada Time : 6:15 am Weekends ( Fri, Sat & Sun) Sitakund Gorge is an ancient forested ravine steeped in folklore and local tradition. According to local folklore Sita rested here during her exile, and the surrounding wilderness is considered part of the mythical Dandakaranya Forest. As the Sitakund Waterfall makes a spectacular plunge through the gorge, the trail itself is enriched by the stories, traditions, and cultural heritage of the Santhal community that has lived in this landscape for generations Trail Highlights: • Start from Belgadia Palace • The Ritual of Entry — Pithabata Forest Gate • On arrival at the forest gate an Santhal elder woman from Bhaliadal village stands at the entrance with a small clay diya, wherein she asks for permission from the forest to enter the forest. • The Sitakund Gorge • Explore the scenic Sitakund Waterfall and soak in the local folklore • Indulge in local Mayurbhanj snacks – Mudi Ghuguni • Get an insight into the way of life of the Santhal Tribe, which resides in the area • Return to Belgadia Palace
